DS (due in 7 weeks) will be our first child that is completely not vaccinated. What do you use instead of their shot record for identification? I guess we could get the card, but it would stay empty. We will need it for insurance enrollment, WIC, etc.

I've never needed any ID for either kid. We don't have WIC, insurance never asked for any such thing... not sure what else you use it for.

Our ins. company only needed a copy of birth certificate, that's it.

ETA: We had 60 days to add ds to our insurance, so there wouldn't be any shot record yet. (or ever lol)

Although my kids have had some shots, I've never used their shot record for anything. The birth cert. should do. If you deliver in a medical setting, then you could use discharge papers or the unofficial/decorative birth certificate that some places hand out until you have an official document.

We only needed his social for insurance enrollment... We now have two passports for him anyways for identification (one American, one from my country). That should be plenty.

Mom of a 7 yr old, 4 yr old, and 1 yr old. Wow. How did that happen?

All we needed for insurance was the SSN, not even the card. And they give you a certain amount of time to get it, too.

No one has EVER asked for a shot card, even though I keep it around to write "none" on it LOL.

And gosh, the idea of that card being some sort of official document really freaks me out. Anyone could use it for any kid of similar age.

I've seen a number of people post about not being able to get an SSN for their child because they didn't have a vax record as ID, and WIC uses it as a form of ID.
