I am looking for someone who has a child with chickenpox who lives in the area of North East Texas. We would like to come visit so that my children can be exposed. I am willing to drive to Austin, Houston, San Antonio or even OK, Louisianna, and even Missouri (SE). I don't vaccinate, my oldest ds caught it when he was 18 months, and I didn't have any other children. But since then I haven't known anyone who had it and my other two are getting older, and if they don't have it by about 10 or 11 I will probably vaccinate them for it. I would prefer they caught it the old fashioned way.

Even if they don't get the pox by then I would hold off on the vaccine, I know of several teens who developed shingles after the vaccine. Chickenpox in teens and adults is no where as scary as some would like you to think provided they have a healthy working immune system. Being non vaxed is a really great start in my opinion.

Forgot to mention, I would re expose your oldest just to boost his immunity, and just because at 18 months there is a small chance he did not develop immunity.

I'm in Mississippi. We're willing to drive pretty far to attend a pox party.

How do these parties generally work? I mean, how long is the child contageous for. (how much notice might we have to drive to a party once a child comes down with it.)
