My daughter's father is taking me to court regarding the decision to not vaccinate our daughter. She will be two in early May. We made a decision together to not vaccinate her and now he wants to do the whole schedule and I am very sure in my decision to not vaccinate. I am trying to find a medical doctor that would be willing to testify in support of my decision but in the middle of PA it's not easy! If any one knows of groups, articles, doctors, etc. that might be helpful I would greatly appreciate it!

Thank you.

Katie

I don't know your daughter's situation, but my sister decided not to vaccinate my nephew after a severe vaccine reaction that triggered his autism spectrum disorder. She found an MD who also does homeopathy and got a medical exemption. I do not know your area, but it might be possible to find someone like that and get an exemption if your reason for not vaccinating is due to a reaction.

I hate to say it because I know it can be $$, but if he is taking you to court I think it would be in you and your DD's best interest to hire an attorney who specializes in vaccination issues. There aren't many out there, and even if they are out of state you should still be able to give them a call and get a consultation. Here is a site to start:

There is information on Legal Help on this site -

http://www.vaclib.org/index.htm

It might be best if you could make some sort of compromise with the father of the baby without going to court. Sounds to me like he just wants to hurt you and is doing it through vaccinating the child, since he agreed to not vaccinating to begin with. jmho.

Courts are always on the side of the establishment. No matter how you try to educate them. They are there to keep an argument going and let the lawyers make their money. No court will listen to a mere mortal.

On this site, there are two law firms listed in Philly. Don't know if that's close enough.

Also, you might want to post a query in your PA tribe area: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...splay.php?f=82

The court case is in Williamsport (central pennsylvania). I know about exemptions. The issue is that my daughter's father is now taking the decision out of our hands and is saying that he believes it is in my daughter's best interest to be completely vaccinated while I feel the opposite. So, now it's up to a judge! But I would be happy to hear any suggestions!

I think trying to get a judge to agree to no vax is a losing battle. The angle I would consider is:

"I agreed with Dh, when dd was an infant, that she would not be vaccinated. Since it appears that he has recently changed his mind and has now decided he would like dd vaccinated. I propose a compromise of following the schedule of Dr. Robert Sears." and give a very detailed Dr. Sears type schedule.

If you give the delayed vax proposal (a la Dr Sears) to your ex and he rejects it, perhaps he will come off as vengeful, indecisive, and uncompromising.

Perhaps when your ex doesn't get what he wants he will back off.

"It should be a rule in all prophylactic work that no harm should ever be unnecessarily inflicted on a healthy person (Sir Graham Wilson, The Hazards of Immunization, 1967)."

Is there something else that dh wants? I would seriously give up ANYTHING to protect dd from vaxes. Will dh go to therapy with you to discuss this? Did he really change his mind, or is he using dd to get back at you for something?

You might try Woodlands medical in Quakertown. http://www.woodmed.com/ I know they have a huge waiting list though.
