So, I am still trying to find a doc in Tupelo, MS that is somewhat ok with not vaxing. It has NOT been easy.

I had heard about a clinic with CFNP's, so I decided to try it. The receptionist was very kind, and made an appt for that day for my 4yo daughter.

Well, once I arrived, and answered the dreaded, "where does she get her vaccinations" question.....things went downhill.

The staff got quiet.

After I filled out all of the paper work, the nice receptionist had to inform me that the CFNP's would not see her because of the liability issue since she was not vaccinated.

She claimed that if she was an MD, she could choose to or not???? :

Has anyone else ever dealt with this?

Many people here have been "fired" from their ped practices for not vaccinating. We left our first pedi because I would not sign their bad mommy form. We have since found a MD who seems to respect parental chouce a bit more. Many parents also just state they do not vaccinate for religious reasons. Perhaps because MS does not recognize this as a legitimate objection (ie do not except religious exemptions for school) it may be a bit harder there to find a relaxed doctor. Im just speculating. Keep looking. Have you tried a family practice doc?? You can also go to an ND.

Thanks for the suggestion... I am trying to find a family doctor, as that would be my preference.

I'll keep looking!

Hope you will find someone. It makes no sense for an MD to flag liability to a non vaxed family when the Doctor did nothing. Yet, when they do unwarranted surgery on healthy children and it goes wrong, they say they're not guilty and continue on with their MALpractice. AND if they inject aborted fetal tissue and fermaldahide along with other such poison causing the child to become disabled for life, they say they're not guilty or the nurse did it and place the blame on the nurse or place the blame on the parents.

BUT if they're told to "FIRST DO NO HARM" they flag 'Liability' and turn you away.

This really boggles the mind.

I tried to PM you but couldn't. My e-mail is in my signature...if you message me, I'll hook you up with a group of non/partially-vaxers in Northern MS.

It is difficult. I call first and ask if the dr. has any objections to seeing a Non-vaxxer. Usually, I get a "well, the dr. will want to discuss it." and I see that as a "no."

I'm going back to a naturapath after having issues with a supposed non-vax friendly ped. trying to push her pet vax onto me.

Did you ever find a Dr. in Tupelo? I have the same issues! We were using Dr. Price at North MS Pediactrics but she has disappointed us. I went for a well visit because I was concerned about some other issues and she asked if we were ready to give vax. I told her I wanted to wait and she scolded me about whooping cough, RSV, and flu. Said she had seen SO MANY cases of whooping cough and RSV and that I should really get the vac. This really irritated me because even if I did want the vac, it would take 3 dosed to be "effective." I really liked her in the beginning because she was very supportive of breastfeeding, co sleeping, and no antibiotics. One week later I received a letter from the health dept saying I was very behind on immunizations! ha too funny!

I don't plan on doing well baby visits again but would like to have a dr. to go to if needed. I am wanting to find a naturpath here as well if anyone knows of one!

Does you doc know that there is no RSV vax? There is an RSV immunoglobulin (antibodies from an exposed person's blood) that is approved for use with premies during RSV season. It must be given every 2 months for the 6-month RSV season. It costs thousands of dollars per shot and many insurance companies wont cover the full season even for premies. To get protection for the next year, the immunoglobluin must be given every 2 months again.

That's an error on my part. She was pressuring me to get whooping cough not RSV. But still the vac would not have helped for this season so it was pointless.

Okay. I've heard a lot of nurses gossiping in a derogatory way about the parents of kids who are hospitalized for RSV. They say that the parents were ignorant and should have gotten the vaccine. When I tell them that there is no such thing and that the immunoglob is only for premies, they look at me like I'm crazy.

I am not in your area, but when last time I was pregnant I asked my midwife specifically for doctors who would be OK with not vaxing, and she gave me a couple of names. I see that you are pregnant, so that might be worth a try, depending on your midwife/OB.

And it is a VERY expensive shot (over $1000) and it has to be approved by the insurance company first.

"It should be a rule in all prophylactic work that no harm should ever be unnecessarily inflicted on a healthy person (Sir Graham Wilson, The Hazards of Immunization, 1967)."
