Not a pretty one, is it?! My poor mother. Luckily, there are no major long term problems. (that I know of?!) I did have terrible ear infections for many years to follow, and as a result have a lot of scarring, and hearing loss. Also, I had terrible childhood eczema. Both flared up badly after a vaccine, and  went away when my mom finally realized that she could stop vaccinating.

This is in response to Becca's previous post about her daughter's eczema-but I thought I would share, just in case there are others who have the same problems with eczema...

My 3yo niece also has very bad eczema as a result of vaccines. Even though my sister has stopped having her vaccinated, it was still really bad. Her poor arms, legs, face, everything is always so scratched up, she'll make herself look like something out of a horror movie in her sleep!

The first thing was fish oil. The fats from this oil are sooo good for eczema. She takes a teaspoon (or a little less) every day. It's lemon flavor, so you can sneak it into juice etc. I take it too, it's really not too bad at all. We use "carlsons".

Also, pro-biotics. Not the small dosage that you get from certain yogurts, but pure probiotics. (We get them from a helath food store-refrigerated.)

Second, they went to a naturopath who did a food sensitivity test. Sometimes, when young children are exposed to vaccines or long term antibiotics, they can develop sensitivities to the foods that they were eating around the times that these medicines were ingested.

These won't show up in a typical "allergy" test that a pediatrician will take. These are sensitivites which are a whole other bag of tricks. These sensitivites, while they won't make your child break out in hives or go into anaphylactic shock, they will cause extreme inflamation within the digestive system-which causes reactions like eczema, and emotional behavior. (think ADHD)

And these sensitivites aren't forever-but the foods need to be eliminated for a while, and then re-introduced.

My sister found out that my niece had sensitivites to wheat, rice, milk, yogurt, cheese, eggs, garlic, corn, apples, tomatoes, asparagus, cranberries, msg, soy, nuts (ok, the list was really long.) She could still have goats milk, and quail eggs.

They elliminated all of these for almost a year, and then started re-introducing them, one by one. Rice for three days, and a break. If her skin, and behavior had improved, it's a keeper. If it get's worse, it's obviously a no-go. (with apples they had to stop after day 1, her eczema got so bad. They'll try again in probably half a year.)

She's now back to eating almost everything but wheat and cows milk (but cheese and yogurt are OK! ) The naturopath assures my sister that she'll most likely out grow all of these sensitivities.

Anyway, i'm sure you get the idea. My sister originally had taken my niece for a regular allergy test, and nothing came up. Yet, her sensitivites were so high that they were causing horrible eczema breakouts.

Her eczema is almost completely gone now, and her behavior is entirely different. She's calm enough now to be able to sit and read a book, or play, a typical 3 year old. (she hadn't sat still for two seconds since she could crawl.) And it wasn't your typical busy toddler. This was like "eyes wouldn't focus-where's the ritalin" kind of crazy.

I never had that symptom as a kid-but I did have the ear infections, which is also a symptom of food sensitivities from inflamation led by vaccines.

Thought this might help some of you who have the whole eczema issue. Knowing first hand how absolutely painful it is, my heart goes out to you and your little ones!

It was a gradual process for me, lots of little clues along the way that culminated in a disturbing premonitory dream that finally woke me up! (Ironic isn't it)

1st clue was the DPT shot that almost killed me as a baby (my mom kept the anti-convulsant medicine in the fridge until I went to college)

2nd clue was feeling irked by the number of vaccines my oldest kid was "required" to get and not really knowing why

3rd clue was the near death seizure of my second child after being vaccinated, her subsequent speech delay, babbling, and speech therapy

4th clue was a suspicious call from the CDC conducting phone surveys about the vaccination status of my children whom they knew by name

5th clue was the dream or should I say nightmare I had when it came time to get my middle child her boosters for kindergarten. In the dream we were at the doctor's office and children were being injected with huge needles directly into their brains. The nurse called my daughter's name to get her shots and then I woke up. Literally.

Knowledge is power.

But only as powerful as the mind which grasps it, reading.gif the heart which believes in it, heartbeat.gif and the hands which wield it.goodvibes.gif

This, I put it in our birth plan for the hospital NO HEP B...So DD didn't get it and then before we were to leave the hospital and the ped doing rounds came to the room and checked out DD, he said "oh I see you didn't do the hep B why is that?" I told him I didn't think it was necessary as I don't have hep B and I didn't think DD was going to be out having dangerous sex or sharing needles anytime soon. I also told him I was tested and did not have it.  This man, this doctor literally said to me "well you might have it and not know you know. So thats why we do it!!!!" I didn't even know what to say, especially because I had been tested for everything at the beginning of my pregnancy.

From there, research continued and now we will never vaccinate any future children at all. I regret that DD has the 2 and 4 months selected shots she did receive at DH's initial urging. He has since changed his mind or at least stop arguing it with me.

I had vaccine reactions as a child and spent more time than I care to remember in the hospital because of them. High fevers that went on for weeks after getting shots but while that was in my record my mother said no one would actually SAY that it was a reaction to vaccinations....  I think I knew as a child that I would question all vax for any children I had as I never would wish it on anyone.
