I gave my oldest just a few vaxes on a delayed schedule and then stopped. Recently dd was diagnosed as having celiacs disease and MANY allergies, for these reasons I feel vaxes are more dangerous for her than a healthy child. Can anyone referr me to articles about vaccinating children with autoimmune disorders? We are in the process of moving to another state, and the vax issue is coming up again. I would love to have something that says it is contraindicated.

TIA,

Laura, Mama to Mya 7/02, Ian 6/07 and Anna 8/09

You can go to http://scholar.google.com/ and do some searches with the appropriate keywords.

But most importantly, you don't think vaccines are safe for your daughter, and you don't need to show anyone any studies in order to refuse vaccines. You won't need to convince a doctor of anything in order to get a school vaccine exemption unless you are moving to Mississippi or West Virginia.

I'm moving to Virginia, and it looks like I willnhave to get a religious exemption, as the stuff I can find on line looks like they are making it harder and harder to get any other kind.

Virginia is easy. You just sign this form and get it notarized.

Thank you for the link!  I had trouble finding that form, even though I knew it existed.

and just as an aside - you will be hard pressed to find anything from mainstream medical people/studies that come right out and say vaccines are contraindicated for kids with autoimmune issues. There may be studies that suggest one thing or another - but there is nothing definitive or totally conclusive. According to mainstream medicine there are very few reasons why a child should NOT get a vaccine. Now if you look at some stuff from alternative medicine I think you'd find more - but few regular peds will find this valid.

My daughter is also diagnosed with Celiac disease and although we are planning on home schooling, our doctor told us to let her know if we needed a note for our kids to get a medical exemption.

We choose not to vaccinate and our doc said that knowing my daughter's history and the extreme nature of her immune reactions to the smallest quantity of gluten, there is no way she would ever give her a vaccination.
