I remember reading something in Mothering archives about if someone say, stepped on a poopy rusty nail, and tetanus was an issue that the doctors could give a shot that would solve the problem (obviously NOT the tetanus vaccine). Does anyone know what that might be?
Any other info on why NOT to get a tetanus vaccine?
Tig is Tetanus Immunoglobulin (an injection but not a vaccination), used when someone without tetanus shot history has a concerning injury. (ER would always also try to give vax as well).
It is a blood product, basically filtered antibodies of someone who had received tetanus shot, as far as I understand.
Some non-vaxers like to know there is that option if ever needed, and some people as view it as reason to get tetanus shot... to avoid the need for tig, as it is a blood product.
