Hi, was wondering if anyone has any advice on this subject. I am a single mom, and I am back in school. I am interested in a few healthcare related jobs, as this career field is booming, and is good money. The things I am considering are ultrasound tech, or physical therapy assistant. Both of these types of programs at the schools have strict admission procedures, with full vaccination records being required. They also draw blood and test titers for MMR and varicella and hep b. I am 27. I have a feeling I would need a vaccine or two. Never had chix pox even though i exposed myself a lot when i was young.

I dont vaccinate my son anymore as he had very serious reactions. I also react terribly to vaccines, specifically the flu vax. I get fevers, and my immune system sucks for months afterwards. Vaccines scare me, because i worry about long term effects on the autoimmune system, etc.

I am wondering if i should just suck it up and do the vaxs for myself to get into a good career field. I appreciate anyones feedback

Ask human resources about state vaccine exemptions, if you want to try to go the exemption route..or check out the state law on the issue...my dd is in community college and the same kind of waiver still applies..she just had to sign it herself now.

I have heard from many nurses that hospitals dont have to accept religious exemptions, which is nuts to me, but apparently its true. UGH

I only you can make this call. Are you okay with potentially compromising your health for a career in the medical field? Or do you chose another profession?  Maybe it would be worth looking into working in the alternative health field instead.

I agree. I'd check into exemptions first, but if they are too hard to get or are not an option, only you can make that call. I know I would never compromise my health or do something to myself I believed to be harmful just for a job.

I can only agree with this. I would certainly look in the holistic/ naturopath field instead. I am sure there are lots of alternatives for you that still earn you good money without jeopardizing your own health.
