We are a non-vaxing family, and I'm considering exposing my children to chicken pox soon so they will have natural immunity.  Do you recommend for or against this?  If against, what are your reasons?

Second question--where on earth would I find someone local with chicken pox?  I'm in the Cincinnati area.

(If I would get more responses posting this on another forum here, please recommend which one!)

I won't risk the liability of recommending for or against, but this is exactly what I did with both of my children. This kind of thing is a highly personal decision. If you do decide to go this route, I suggest posting in the finding your tribe board for your region. Be prepared to wait and possibly to travel a bit too. I think it took about 18 months for us to find pox in the Chicago area.

Hopefully some folks here will have other resources, too. I know there are some email lists and active Facebook groups. Also, some people will send contaminated items in the mail. I can't attest to the effectiveness of that method but there are legal and moral considerations that accompany it, as well.
