I just wanted tho share my experience, because I, (like many of you, probably) assume that when we go in to see a doctor, they will be pro-vax and slam us for our choice to not vaccinate.  Well, today I took my son in to a random doctor (I'm visiting relatives in another town) for a minor check up (as last week he had spots that I'd hoped were chicken pox but were probably not.)

Before I'd said a word about the matter, she said , "I'm not sure what your position on this is, but there is a vaccine they offer for chicken pox.  I'm personally against it, especially for chicken pox.  CP is a normal childhood illness, and if they don't catch it earlier in life, it becomes much more dangerous when they're older.  Also, kids used to be around their parents/grandparents w/the virus, which helped to re-establish their immunity.  Now everyone is vaxed and so the elderly are getting more shingles (no longer being exposed to natural booster from kids).  And now there's a vaccine for shingles!"  And here she actually rolled her eyes!!

I was so shocked at being handed this opinion/info by a random conventional doc that all I could do was smile and nod and tell her how refreshing it was to hear that from her!  Now I think back to her words "especially chicken pox" and I wish I would have asked her opinions on the other vaccines!  I only wish she could be my regular doctor.

Just made me wonder how many other doctors are out there who feel that way, maybe (hopefully) more than we think!   Anyone else have a story like that to share?

While my doc is pro-vax, she once expressed hesitancy around the chicken pox vaccine.  A number of years ago she said she wasn't keen on the CP vax as it was fairly new and as such did not have much history to judge its safety, efficacy, etc on.  I wonder if she feels the same about HPV now.

OP, that is very refreshing to hear indeed.  My husband's primary doc (fairly conventional) advises against the flu vaccine.
