I was watching a show about nutrition today and there they portrayed how aqua culture salmon is vaccinated. Now with all the other animals that enter our food chain and are vaccinated, how does this effect us? Are there studies done on this subject? What are the ingredients for these vaccines? How many vaccines do these animals in general receive before they are slaughtered?
Do any of you have done research on this topic and could point out some helpful links where to start my own research? Much appreciated.

It's all regulated by USDA, but it's not just vaccines - most livestock go through frequent de-worming and are on preventative for heartworm...aka very high doses of ivermectin.

Human Illness Associated with Use of Veterinary Vaccines
Veterinary vaccines are being used with increasing frequency in the United States to protect the health of animals. However, humans may be inadvertently exposed to these products by means of unintentional inoculation or other routes of exposure. The potential for both exposure and for adverse consequences secondary to exposure to veterinary vaccines may be growing. With the exception of brucellosis vaccines, there have been few reports of suspected or confirmed adverse events in humans associated with the use of animal vaccines, but it is unclear whether that is because few adverse events occur or because adverse events are not recognized and/or reported. Results of a search for relevant literature and of communications with health officials at governmental and private institutions suggest that enhanced efforts are needed to recognize and to prevent human illness associated with use of veterinary vaccines.
Yuck. Doesn't it make you want to buy a couple acres of land and keep your own animals?! At least the pigs my friends back home keep aren't vaccinated nor on ivermectin. They acquire them as piglets, keep them in the backyard and feed them table scraps and from their veggie gardens and slaughter them when adult. They then process the meat at home (sausages, etc). They test it for trich. and that's it.
With fish I've gotten so careful. I only want wild caught Atlantic at this point due to radiation concerns anyways in the Pacific.
