I don't know who she is....I'm so out of touch.  But I imagine she's a star of some sort?  Anyway, here is the horrible offensive article written to make her sound dumb.  http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-moms/news/kristin-cavallari-didnt-vaccinate-son-camden-fears-autism-2014143

I never heard of her either.

Yes. There are others. I mentioned on another thread about actress and Dr. Mayim Bialik PhD in neurology from UCLA, did not vax her sons and has stated that the subject is not up for discussion.  But you know, it is easier to make fun of a blonde playboy bunny or actress, than a person who could really discuss the subject intelligently!  There are plenty of others, I am sure, as not all are public about their health choices.

Lisa Kennedy Montgomery is a mom and a media shill who was on MTV, like Jenny McCarthy, and is on radio now. She has a BA from UCLA in philosophy, so science wise, health wise, what does she really know?

I was wondering why the author of the article thought it was significant that Ms. Cavallari has blonde hair. It was not an article about fashion or beauty. :eyesroll

all that does is make me wonder when the media is going to make a circus/example/scapegoats out of those people.   Now, if they'd band together in hollywood, maybe that would make a bigger voice? I don't know....

Oh, didn't you get the memo? Sexism is OK if it's towards a famous female that you DON'T like---Jenny McCarthy, Sarah Palin, Nicki Haley, Hilary Clinton for crying . . .

I read Paul Off it's book, Deadly Choices, and he spends a good two pages detailing McCarthy's pornographic CV. He must really want us to know what a bimbo she is. eyesroll.gif Of course, he doesn't take on Blaylik.

Add to that list, comedian Rob Schneider, who offered his time and voice in Sacramento two years ago fighting against the new vaccine exemption law. His take on it can be found on youtube.  He is attempting to branch out in his career. He recently auditioned and did not get a two hour segment on talkradio in LA, CA.

But he is not blond, mmmm. Does that mean he has a brain? I understand on the very exclusive Westside of Los Angeles, the part of CA that sent Cong. Waxman, the author of the Vaccine Company Protection Act of 1986, to Congress 20 terms in a row, there are at least three pediatricians that do not take insurance and do not offer vaccines in their practice.  That means there are plenty of over-educated, upscale parents who do not vaccinate or who selectively vaccinate; that means to me, they are using their head and not their ears to make a decision concerning their children.

Here is a link to another thread discussing some of the same. http://www.mothering.com/community/t/1398264/picking-on-mayim-bialik/0_100

Jenny McCarthy did not invent the idea that the MMR in particular and vaccines in general cause autism; that rumor had been around for over 15 years before Wakefield. I recall reading about DAN! doctors around 1995.  ARI has been around since 1967.

When Jenny took her son Evan into the pediatrician for his scheduled MMR, Jenny remarked to the pediatrician that this was the "autism shot", and the pediatrician laughed.

Months later, Jenny noticed her son flapping his arms and walking on tiptoes, and she did the same with him, calling him her "birdie baby".  A few months after she noticed other symptoms, she was at UCLA getting a diagnosis of autism.

LOL yah I stopped reading and did a double take at that remark.  They are going to just tear her apart - she was a pseudo reality tv star on Laguna Beach or The Hills or maybe both?  Bunch of overpriviledge So Cal kids in high school and beyond, and while I found most of them to be oblivious and shallow from what little I saw while browsing, I don't think it's impossible to think they could do any legit research to make the decision to not vax, but that's the spin the media will put on it.

There is a general mentality that celebrities are somehow below the rest of the population in that they are not allowed to have political/health/whatever opinions without the crowd coming out to tell them to shut-up and get back to their work. This only escalates with the vaccine issue, but what I really love is how all the comments talk about how she (or whoever is the subject of the day) is uneducated, no doctorate or science degree, etc... but they don't ever say the same thing when a celebrity comes out in favor of vaccines.

I glanced at this one - http://www.chicagotribune.com/health/chi-kristin-cavallari-jay-cutler-vaccinations-20140314,0,5439519.story which says...

Quote:

Experts warned against the dangers of following celebrity advice after reality star Kristin Cavallari acknowledged Thursday that she and husband Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler decided not to vaccinate their children.

Personally, as a parent, this is what I find offensive, that they believe that parents who have made this choice are mindlessly following some celebrity without doing any research for ourselves. I've read a few of Jenny McCarthy's books. I found a lot of the information she gave helpful and used it to dig further into some subjects, but none of the information I took from her was really related to vaccines.

I think before she made that comment, 99.5% of the population had no idea who she was, and now a lot of people do, so perhaps this whole thing will be good for her, overall.

It would be great if it became trendy to question vaccines. Once enough "cool" stars begin to speak out, then the groupies will follow. I truly hope the slanderous media propaganda backfires.

Jon Rappaport used to work in the vaccine industry, didn't he, or am I confusing him with someone else?

Never mind, I just read his bio. He is not.

I agree about your assessment of that part.

Let's play with that statement a little, shall we?  Shall we go back to a different century, and a different country?

"Who's to blame for the financial depression/recession our country faces?  Is it the group of people who refuse to join our church, and follow their own religion?  Or is is it the people who are friends with them?"

Yeah, we've heard this song before...

That's true. The Hannah Poling case will forever be a thorn in the pro-vax movement due to her parents being medical professionals, and other reasons.

I think a lot of the recent pro-vaccine media hype and scapegoating of vaccine critics is due to the publicity this case received and how it made even the staunchest mainstream news people take notice.

Yeah, we've heard this song before...

"They" have to constantly have a minority group to blame for problems, because if there isn't one, people might wake up and see that it's the system that's the problem, not those other people.

I KNOW. That's what is so mind boggling to me. Maybe, just maybe the bad press will convince others to look deeper at the issue before making their decisions.
