Just watching one of my guilty pleasures on tv, Big Brother Canada, and watched a commercial on a new vaccine to protect your kids with the 'first and only vaccine for the Meningoccal Menigitis caused by the B strain' ....it's the Multicomponet Meningococcal B vaccine (recombinant, adsorbed) by Bexsero. (Bexsero.ca)

It is already available in Europe. Although in the UK and Germany they did not put it on the list of recommended vaccines yet because of questionable efficacy, costs and it was a concern that parents might get worried about having 'too many' vaccines pushed on their babies during the first year of life.

It is to be taken up by the UK today, to ease parent's greatest fear.

Exclusive: Dramatic U-turn as Hunt agrees to free meningitis B jabs for every UK child to protect against 'parent's greatest fear'

The Department of Health is expected to announce on Friday that it has reversed a recommendation made last October by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) not to introduce the Bexsero vaccine as part of the UK’s routine child immunisation programme.

The full reasons behind the re-appraisal are expected to be given later.

But sources close to Jeremy Hunt, the Health Secretary, said that the JCVI had noted the criticisms of its decision by leading medical researchers and physicians and had now reversed its conclusion that the vaccine was not cost-effective.

Nevermind that seven of the nine members/invited contributors have received funding from Novartis specifically and all have received funding from big pharma.

Have not seen this yet. Thanks for posting! I guess then it won't take long for the German committee to follow since almost all members are paid of by big pharma too. That is why I was surprised at first that they did NOT recommend it. All a question of payment!

Yup the RKI Stiko is very 'unbiased'. I think it's the most loaded schedule in Europe.
