Vaccination Nightmare: Whooping Cough Vaccine Almost Killed Perth Father

http://www.jump-in.com.au/show/today...3602245706001/

"June 03, 2014: Tanya and Ben Hammond share their frightening story of a vaccination gone wrong."

He couldn't walk for six months. In the interview he looks like he's still suffering from some kind of mild paralysis. *shudder*

Holy crap. That's scary and awful. And what the heck is up with the hospital policy? Do they think vaccines work immediately? If he was truly at risk of spreading Pertussis to all the babies in the nursery, then he was at just as much risk after he got the vaccine.

Interesting to hear what he said at the end about insurance. Would vaccine injury be covered?

Just curious because AFAIK, Australia still hasn't brought in the no fault compensation for vaccine injuries so people who are injured are generally on their own.

Also curious with the story last week that the federal government is now working to close the loophole that allowed people with Conscientious Objections on file to receive tax benefits/state benefits. They said it was in an effort to force "jab refusers" to get up to date.

I thought that the land down under had abandoned that coccooning concept of vaccinating everyone in sight of a newborn because it was a miserable failure.

Interesting.

England tried economic pressure over 150 yrs ago to get compliance with smallpox vaccine campaigns. It did not work. Somebody needs to learn from the failures of the past or they are going to end up repeating those failures.

I am surprised that they are not against vaccination as stressed at the end of the interview. Wow, if I had gone through such a life-threatening experience, I don' t think I would ever get another vaccine. Brave people

I think they had to add that at the end or else the media wouldn't touch it. There's a heated "war" on people who are "anti-vax" over here and anyone who writes, publishes, or speaks about any concern over vaccines has to put the qualifier in or else any moderate support in the general public vanishes. Last I heard, Dorey needed extra security because of death threats.

I mean, it looks unusual when you've suffered an injury to that scale and are saying, "I almost died, but I still support vaccines."

Yeah, I thought they had too. I read that the government had recommended that it ceased being funded certainly.

The CO loophole is a red herring. It's basically just a symbolic witch hunt because the government paints them as an imminent danger to all of Australian society--all 1.5% of them. Because they cannot mandate immunisation yet, the only thing they have at their disposal right now is to revoke any support payments.

The program of free vaccination for parents of newborns has been ceased. It may still be being recommended by individual practitioners though.

This was the hospital's policy. The hospital told him that he could not see his newborn son without the shot.
