California declares wooping cough epidemic

http://edition.cnn.com/2014/06/13/he...html?hpt=hp_t4

So let's see who is responsible for the latest outbreak.

I am not convinced that the author got his numbers right:

Quote: All adults should get a Tdap booster, unless you had one as a teenager (after age 11).

With the pertussis component not being very effective to begin with, are they sure that you don't need a booster if you had one after age 11? Where does this information come from?

It may have more to do with the TdaP itself than any clear knowledge of how long its alleged immunity lasts. It's only licensed for a one-time dose according to the package inserts.

Exclamation

As I just posted about the pertussis vax.

It is a vax against a mucosa bronchial infection!!!
It can not in any way stop transmission to others,or you getting it. The ONLY purpose for it is to lesson or stop severity of symptoms. That's it folks.
The vaccine creates back end antibodies ONLY when the disease hits the BLOOD SUPPLY, but natural infection requires a specific bronchial immunity not made by the current vaccines, and not provided by the antibodies detected in antibody tests.

You might as well tell people that antibiotics kills all viruses as well. They are about as close to the truth.

Also: booster shots really have no use to adults, whose immunity - as a result of "original antigenic sin" was primed for this "back end" immunity and whose immune system will no longer respond in any other way - no matter how many DTaP shots they get, and no matter how many time they are re-exposed to natural whooping cough. This is "WHY adults will continue to be the main source of carriage and spread in the community because of this.

Who is spreading WC? The vaccinated!
