Forgotten vials of smallpox virus found

I mentioned this on another thread but thought it needed it's own...

The CDC let the WHO know about the find and invited the WHO to witness the destruction of the vials, which is the standard protocol any time anyone finds smallpox samples unexpectedly.
So... apparently this happens often enough that they have a standard protocol in place?

Note that this is used as an opportunity to market vaccines.

HA! Doesn't exactly say much for their tracking and record keeping abilities...

Yes, on the above article and this one they insert a link to an article the safety of childhood vaccines.

They have decided the vials did in fact contain live virus... http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/11/health...html?hpt=hp_t2

And here is one on the issues they had with exposing workers to anthrax...

the CDC says it has found another more "distressing" problem due to lab workers not following protocol

Just skimming some of the comments and it brought a question to mind... do you think that those who received the vaxx are still immune? Since we are now seeing the failure of some many vaccines from both lower efficacy and lower lifespan than previously thought I wonder how this one might hold up.

Thanks for posting. Hadn't seen those ones yet.

Though the contamination was discovered on May 23, Dr. Frieden said that he was dismayed to discover that senior C.D.C. officials were not informed until July 7, and that he was told only 48 hours ago.

Haven't read these yet, someone posted the first link in the comment section on the NY Times article...
