Should I ask my vaxing friends to let me know when their kids have their shots to avoid any shedding issues? What have you done? How did you go about it?
TIA!:

I don't really worry about it at all. If you *were* vaxing would you ask them? Because most of the live vaxes aren't given until a year anyway.

sorry to hijack--
but along the same lines, i've been wondering lately--is it worse to be exposed to the shedded form of the virus than the true wild version? or put another way, is the shedded virus worse?

No. Our bodies treat the shedded virus the exact same way as exposure to the natural virus.

I didn't do anything differently, myself...as far as the shedding thing.

I do have a friend that is not very... clean. Doesn't wash her hands a lot and such. Her boy is gonna be getting the full dose of one year shots next week. What should I say?? I think she might have got her and hubby sick at 3 mo shots, she had no idea vax shed. I don't want to put her off- but I don't wanna get sick more. Maybe I'll just avoid her company for awhile.

Why not tell her that some vaccines shed and in particular the rota vax. Tell her that it might make her and the whole family sick. If she is your good friend you owe it to her imo.

I don't worry about it. If DD gets sick, she gets sick, just like any other illness, vax 'preventable' or otherwise.

Mama to Raina (9/06) and Peter (8/09)!

I asked the other moms in our playgroup to do so, but no one does. I asked specifically because Jack had eczema on his feet, and the bumps could maybe be mistaken for measles or something else, so I wanted to know, if the red bumps spread, what the likelihood of it being eczema vs. an illness was.
I hope that makes sense.
