Does anyone know anything about "joining" the New Life religion for purposes of medical exemption?
I heard if you send them $100 they provide a letter or membership card or something concrete to back you up.

Never heard of it... I personally wouldn't join a religion because of my vax status.

Mommy to THREE sweet boys & ONE sweet girl + a newb due in February!  I need a nap.

Well I think it would be for a religious exemption

But there is no need. They can not ask your religion.

I'm in NY where I hear they can ask for a letter from your church or some sort of supporting documentation, also maybe an interview?
A professional recommended the organization to me, I was hoping to find someone with experience with them.

They can and will ask for a letter from YOU. Not your church. They can't ask for that.

There's a New York Times article about it somewhere. I recall hearing that a lot of New Yorkers actually do need to go through them to get their exemption, but I don't have the link right now. Bedtime...

Absolutely not true. All you need is a well written letter (from yourself...)

Hehe, here's the article, though, for a good (and original!) view of why non-vaxers are ruining the world. It's the Congregation of Universal Wisdom. I suppose it's cheaper than a lawyer if the normal, legal exemption gets denied.

IMO, the cost of a lawyer is SOOOOO worth the peace of mind.

Why is it that you have to be part of an organization to be perceived as religious? As far as I'm concerned if the day comes where they question my relgious beliefs when i enroll ds in a few years I will probably threaten lawsuit. Afterall, don't we have freedom of relgion in this country and can't that include my own religion in my own home?

That is nothing new.

In the 1980s, Dr. Mendelsohn took the stand as a Medical Expert for an Orthodox Rabbi in Monsey, NY who had decided to follow a more natural path for his family since the death of his parents. One of the decisions was not to vax his eleventh child, a son. In order to facilitate this in NY State, he became a minister in the New Life Church. Two fellow Rabbis took the stand to support him in his new "ministry" and said that did not conflict with being an observant Jew.

He won.

I am sure his son is grown by now with many children of his own in the same community.
