I moved here from Wa which has a philisophical and religious exemptions. Here in Va they have medical and religious. I have got the form from the center for disease control page was just wondering if it's as easy as just turning it in to the school or how it works. I am not religious but will be using that form.

We also just moved to Virginia from a state that allowed philosophical exemptions. Registration was about 6 weeks ago for kindergarten starting in August and we submitted a religious exemption form in lieu of the vaccination record (ds is partially vaxed). The school nurse glared at the paper with enough intensity that I feared she'd burn a hole in it. She looked a bit confused as well, I got the impression that she hadn't seen an exemption form before. Then she handed the form back to us with a smile and sent us on our way. I've read other posts from Virginians here who had absolutely no problem submitting their religious exemption, so I'm fairly optimistic that everything is okay. We aren't particularly religious either, but I don't think that really matters.

Just hoping that come August there isn't a problem...

There was another thread on this exact topic just a few days ago. I'm pretty sure its in the Virginia tribal area. All the replies were the same. Print the form or get it from the school board, have it notarized and turn it in. if they pause it's because they haven't seen it before. If they ask where the immunization records are just point out the exemption form and say sweetly "Here is the exemption form." It really isn't a big deal at all.

I have to do that in VA in a couple of weeks...but it's a private school. Back when I registered the kids, the director said they are state accredited and accept religious exemptions but there's a new director and I'm hoping I don't have any problems!

I know people who've done it in public schools and have had no problems. In VA they can't question you about your religion like they can in, I believe, NY and some other places.
