Reusables

I'd like to compile a list of reusables. Especially interested in ones that can me made and in switching to reusables. I'll start the list with what I can come up with and hopefully, we can add to it.

  • cloth rags instead of papertowels (from cut up old clothing)
  • mama cloth instead of disposable pads
  • family cloth instead of tp (from cut up t-shirts)
  • Crocheted "sponges" from scrap yarn
  • cloth napkins instead of paper
  • cloth diapers instead of disposables (from old t-shirts and sweatshirts)
  • cloth produce bags
  • cloth shopping bags
  • stainless steel water bottles
  • glass freezer containers (carried in bag to use instead of take-away containers or instead of plastic bag at the market)
  • cloth rounds instead of cotton balls (made from old t-shirts)
  • cloth hankies instead of tissues (cut up old t-shirts)
  • cloth wipes instead of disposable wipes (old t-shirts)
Okay, that's all I can think of at the moment. After seeing how much I use old t-shirts for, it's a good thing my friends give me their old t-shirts or I don't think I would have enough!

What else have you switched to reusable on?

I'd love to help with your list, but I can't think of anything else that isn't on it!

All our kitchen storage is reusable glass. We switched gradually over a few years. Also we use Swissgold coffee filters & a similar tea infuser. We return egg cartons to farms for reuse. We try to reuse any packaging we acquire such as shipping, food storage, or liquids.

Good thread

Today I cut off the top sections of plastic soda bottles to use as handy funnels around the kitchen.

Well, if we're including repurposing of objects for a new use (in which they may be reused) I have a huge list with a bunch of my ideas and links to other people's ideas here:

Newspaper is one of the best reusable thing. I make lots of newspaper craft and home decorative from old newspaper.
