At 3:30 this morning my water broke. I am experiencing many emotions but predominantly excitement

I will check in again with the midwives at 9 AM. Meanwhile, I'm doing all the things I still had left to do like wash cds and pack that bag o' mine

Walking in the light with DH, DD (11/08), DS (4/10) , four dogs, and one insouciant cat.

Are you sure your water broke?

(I'll duck and cover if it was obvious, I just had a friend IRL who thought she'd broken hers with her first but it wasn't).

Please get a LOT of rest. The first birth can be like a marathon! Any contractions?

Oh, and keep us updated!

Actually I was logging back in to see how much is normal to lose. I have lost a lot. First the initial gush that soaked my side in one large spot, then some toilet sitting, and now I am on my fourth pad being soaked.

I think it's totally normal but just not sure.

BEST news is that our favorite midwife from the practice is on today for labor and delivery ::::

Even if I'm still laboring after her shift I know that I will have been in the best hands during the first major part.

Good Luck I hope everything goes well for you!!!!

The keep labor going make sure you squat through all your early contractions....My first was relatively quick, my water broke at 3pm I delivered at 11:50pm

Sounds very normal ... sometimes it comes out in a gush and sometimes trickle ... you will likely notice that a little comes out with each contraction ...
keep drinking - labor aid or tea with honey ... keep your energy up. Not sure if you are drinking Red Raspberry Leaf tea but add some honey to that if you are ...

Your waters will keep replenishing so just keep changing those pads. I found a folded washcloth to help a bit ... it's such an odd feeling to be leaking cause it feels like you are wetting yourself which is NOT normal after the age of 3. LOL! Hard feeling to get used to for sure!!!

I'm so excited for you! :

What's the protocol in your state...are you having a homebirth or hospital birth (can't remember .

Sounds like you're actually having contractions then!? I still suggest trying to rest as much as possible. Because it could still be a while. And like eveyrone else is saying, stay well hydrated, your body does continuously make amniotic fluid!

Anyhow, many happy laboring vibes. I'm so excited to see women starting to having their babies in our DDC! And, I'll have to get used to it as I'm at the end LOL and tend to go over!

You all are just the best :

I will have a hospital birth; I don't intend on going into the hospital until the 12 hour mark.

Seriously, who KNEW they meant fluid like this Goodness gracious.

I had no idea it replenished itself either.

Congratulations! That's how my labor started with my ds - and I started contracting about 2.5 hours later. I loved starting labor that way. LOL, my MW told me to go home and get some rest too. That's hard when you KNOW your baby is coming in hours!!!!

I'm so happy for you. Wishing you a safe, beautiful, tranformative labor!

Oh mama! I am SO happy for you! This is very exciting and I'm glad that your fav mw will be there with you today. And yep for the water..it can be big or little. Mine broke on it's own w/ my 2nd child and it was a trickle that kept on trickling!

Good luck and keep us posted! I will keep you in my thoughts. I can't believe you are going to meet your baby very soon! Sending many positive birthing vibes your way and much love and light! :

Yeah, so you might leak on and off too even....my friend had that for a couple of days until her DS was born. She used the chux pads between her legs most of the time!

My DD's bow broke when I started pushing and it was a huge pop and splash LOL. Definitely got some on the midwife .
