this is my first pregnancy, first baby and I'm 36 weeks, 1 day today. I have been having this feeling today--I've had it before but it's been more often today--but I don't know what it is! I'm not alarmed and I see my midwife on Friday, but I'm just wondering is you all have any insight. It just feels like I'm being pinched in the cervix, or poked at by something small. what's going on in there?

That could be a little dilation. Many describe it as a "sharp, shooting pain". Or it could just be baby's head pressing on a nerve.

It could definitely be the baby bumping a nerve. I swear with my other three they would get their hands down there and poke it! Ouch.
So far this babe hasn't done that thankfully!

I always assumed it was baby poking my cervix or something!

Seriously baby probably has a hand down there feeling around. Its ouchy when they do that, your cervix is really senstive right now.

I told my MW about the pinchy sensations and she says it's the LO looking for the exit. hehe

I call them "baby bites" - but it's more likely to be a hand, I know. Either way, not a pleasant sensation!
