I started a thread on this forever ago, and now can't seem to dig it up. So, here we go again!
For those of you who still have babes unborn, or those of you who can summon memories (haha), what do you feel if/when you examine yourself internally?

I'm totally curious because there is something across the top of my kiddo's head. It feels HUGE for suture lines, but not big enough to be a cord, and is like a little moutain ridge (firm, not smushy). Can anyone else feel sutures? Are they big? I'm driving myself up the wall with this - we're planning a UC and I'm not very good at finding heart tones to begin with. I'm afraid that this lump really is the cord and that babe will be in big trouble in labour. But, I think it's suture lines. Can anyone else feel anything in there?

Where is your cervix in relation to babe's head?
Mine seems to move around a bit but is slowly making it's way to the top of babe's head (as opposed to jammed waaay up high and behind his head!)

For greater things are yet to come...

I haven't checked myself with this pregnancy, but with DS#2 I checked and swore I felt -- a NOSE. Sure enough, he was OP and his head was tilted funny when I pushed him out.

Sounds like your babe is LOW! Mine is pretty darn floaty at this point, which I'm not so surprised about being that this is my fourth! I don't think the last couple dropped down until labor started!

My cervix, I actually found it the other day! And, it was an ordeal LOL. It's very posterior, way up there so I really had to reach HIGH. Though, I think I'm probably 75-80% effaced, maybe 3 cm. I'm guessing I'm that effaced because the only way I was sure it was my cervix was because of the opening! Though this is my fourth, I don't think it means that much! I know my first was the toughest one, toughest birth by far. I was so exhausted at the end. I'm hoping this is going to be a quick and pretty easy birth (not like any of them are easy really--still intense). I'm more concerned about the fact that this one likes to rotate so much LOL. I would prefer NOT to have another posterior babe.

What position is your babe in? Have you checked out spinning babies?

I don't really feel like I'm going to 'go' until past my date LOL!

Perpetually breastfeeding or pregnant ENFP mom to a lot of kids...wife to a midwestern nice guy...living in tropical paradise...pink cats and homebirths rock!
