Writing novels, no,
But seventeen syllables...
That I can do.

If, like me, you can
Only write brief things right now,
Share your poems here.

Light comes too soon now
The day’s weight settles on me
Please just let me sleep.

Shhh. Don’t move. Not now.
He just went to sleep again.
If he wakes, you die.

As soon as you’re done,
Your sister wants boobie too.
I don’t need to pee!

I wrote those three, then
Though he got the meter wrong,
My husband wrote this:

The baby is almost done.
Then I will attack.
Naked never looked so good.

tee hee!

love it!

I love haiku. I do crappy ones by request on one of my blogs. Here are the ones about life as a mom/baby related things:

time for baby's bath
she smiles as water trickles
then "trickles," herself

many mothers love
the smell of a new baby
but i smell nothing

i feel so hungry
but i'm too lazy to cook
ah yes, leftovers!

yellow, brown or green
a veritable rainbow
inside the diaper

Nealy, can I put yours up on my haiku blog as a guest post?

oh my sweet lucia
rose gold hair and long lashes
I could stare all day

soft girl curled close
our smell of sleep and breast milk
tiny mouth snoring

how I miss my son
dark blot on my happiness
I ache for your hug

family of four
a square. a set. completion
unless of course... five?

Holly --

Feel free to post any of mine you'd like! It would be my honor.

These are great! Keep them coming!

One more from me:

Why does a newborn
Need these pajama pockets?
What will he keep there?

Nealy's wise question
Has long occupied my thoughts
many imagined things

Awake in wee hours
The newborn quietly sleeps
Four year old is ill

Our lights are all lit
The neighbors must be thinking
we are partying

Father and Mother
sit drooping with small worries
small child jumps on bed

If ill, one would think
he would be tired and sleep
he zooms past, I groan

Through all this sweetly
Baby sleeps calmly, gently
Peace in the chaos.

Oh I found the answer yesterday... spit up! Rolled right into her pocket instead of dripping all over me

I have to say, this thread really inspired me.

Each year I do something for my DH for valentines day. A story, a song, something written...this year I wrote a beautiful collection of Haiku which is centered around the birth of our DS. It turned out beautiful, now I just have to select a lovely font and print. Although we've known eachother for nearly 20 years and I didn't think that we could have a deeper sense of intimacy I was wrong. I think this birth really has deepened and expanded certain aspects of our relationship.

(for those who don't remember, DS was born as an accidental UC and DH caught--crazy quick birth)

Perpetually breastfeeding or pregnant ENFP mom to a lot of kids...wife to a midwestern nice guy...living in tropical paradise...pink cats and homebirths rock!
