I did a belly mask last weekend. It really doesn't do it any justice in terms of size and it isn't finished yet but it came out pretty cool I think. The girls helped me and it was fun and pretty funny!

I put the camera on a chair and set the auto timer to take the picture. That's how I do all my self pictures.

I had wanted to do it with my last baby but hadn't had the time. I ordered a kit online, there are a lot of different one's out there, you'd probably have to get it really soon and express deliver it. It took only an hour, my girls 9 and 11yo helped me and got a kick out of it. I just have to sand it and add a layer of stuff to it. It was really worth doing and really neat to see after I pulled it off. Make sure you put lots of vaseline or oil on yourself though or it sticks to the littlest hairs and then it sort of hurts when you pull it off. Just google belly mask....they range from abou 20 bucks to over 75. Hope you get a chance to do it!

My Belly Cast!!!
http://philhyde.smugmug.com/gallery/...39023134_nAeJh

There is no reason on earth to buy a kit for the belly cast. I bought gypsum strips from a medical supply store - I got 3 rolls of it, and we got tired of distracting the kids from making a huge mess, so we just stopped at 2 1/2. I'd recommend 3-4 for an average mama, or if you want more coverage of shoulders or something.

We covered the floor with an old sheet and then a plastic paint tarp.
We used a plastic bin for dipping the strips into.
I covered myself with olive oil (worked perfectly).
DH wore latex gloves, and I did some smoothing out with bare hands.
It took 45 minutes start to finish.

I used this site primarily for advice - pay specific attention to the instructions for the nipples & belly button!
http://pregnancyandbaby.com/pregnanc...y-cast-467.htm

Today, I got a henna tattoo - I'll get some more pictures of it tomorrow, as it darkens. Right now, it's orange, the goopy part dried up and brushed off, leaving just a faint pigment.

My belly cast didn't work It got too heavy and came off and under dried, top wouldn't. Holes galore b/c it crumbled and eventually it just collapsed and died.

We had a lot of negative feeling while doing it, thanks dp. So I believe that is why...plus the kids ruined a lot of strips and wouldn't listen and well...typcial in my life.

Really bummed and sad. But it wasn't meant to be, I suppose.

AWWWWWW I'm really sorry about that. I was nervous when we were doing it because we didn't know what we were doing, and our kids were nutty, too! If you're motivated to try again, you could just get the gypsum strips from a medical supply store. I'd come help you, but I don't think that's realistic !

Are you going to paint your belly still?

Sorry it didn't work out LemonJ. Could you do a painting or maybe just get a really good pic of your belly? I hope so. Take care of yourself!

Photos were taken on the 14th - that's 39.5 weeks. I photoshopped and used artistic rendering on them. I want to frame some of them. Today, we'll take some more with the girls kissing or something - and also with the henna.

Any opinions, I'd be grateful. I prefer the photos without my face, but DH & I like the one of me laughing, even though it's super dorky!

Oh I love those!!! So artistic!! I like the one of you laughing too. And I really like the one that looks like a rough sketch, just the outlines. You look really good!!

Happily married to my sweet DH with two precious girls (12/08) and (8/10) and a crazy puppy dog. Expecting blessing #3 around 12/10.
