I thought I'd start a thread where we can post what our screen free/TV free/Minimal TV days look like. The reason is that the one question I hear again and again from people wanted to cut back on TV is "what do you do instead?" So here's today...

Do post yours too!

8am DD gets up and draws
9am DD wakes lazy mummy who stayed up late the night before LOL!
9:30 breakfast
10am finish off cakes for delivery (I have a baking business), DD helps
10:30 deliver cakes and chat to everyone at the shop
11am walk over to the grocery shop
12pm have lunch out
1:30pm arrive home to tidy up a bit (together)
2pm make ice cream for the night's dessert MMMMMM strawberry!
3pm make paper! It was my daughter's first time and she did great. The paper is beautiful
4pm DD continues making paper and I prepare stuff for dinner
4:45 go out to pick up kids that are coming for dinner, bath and story
5:15 DD plays with friends (dress up)
6:15 dinner with friends
7:15 bath with friends
8:00 storytime
8:15 friends go home to their beds
8:45 asleep!

Fun! I'll join in. Here's what happened yesterday.

8:00 wake up (shockingly late! Mommy got to sleep in!)
8:30 ate breakfast and sent dad off to work, made bed and got dressed
9:30 Storytime at the library (I can't say enough good things about this program and it's free!)
10:30 Home to play in the backyard (sandbox, water hose)
11:30 Came inside to clean-up for lunch
12:00 Lunch and read new library books
1:30 naptime
3:30 snack time
4:00 cleaned out garage (DS found an old quilt and two of my dolls from childhood and sat on the DIRTY garage floor playing while I huffed and puffed boxes around to take to goodwill. He loved it.)
5:30 drew "doggies" with dad while mommy made dinner (tacos!)
6:30 watched dad mow the lawn and found a woodpecker feather for DS's room
7:30 bath, stories, bedtime
8:15 asleep

Thursday:

6.45am: i got up to fix coffee and brioche for DP and I, set out a little portion for DD.
7.15am: DD bursts into my bedroom demanding "crioche" and is delighted to find DP (her as-yet-non-resident step daddy) there. Have fun family breakfast in mumma's bedroom for an hour or so.
8.40am: DP leaves for work. We do some drawins for a while and get an sms inviting us out to a friend's for lunch.
9.10am: Load DD into the babyjogger and head to the park for a run (with me running).
10.10am: Arrive home, share a shower and a post-run snack together.
10.40am: DD settles down to "do lego's" while i check my email and surf a bit.
11.20am: Get ready to go out for lunch - change DD's outfit and pack a bag.
11.45am: Head out to friends with DD in the meitai.
Midday: Arrive at friends. Two and a half hours of playing in the paddling pool and garden and eating lunch and general messing about having fun.
2.30pm: head home for naptime.
4pm: wake from nap (VERY late, usually 1pm-2.30!) A bit grumpy for 15 minutes, then cheers up. We read lots and lots of books (about 20!) and then i get the playdough out for a bit.
5pm: she playdoughs, i cook dinner.
5.30pm: we eat.
6pm: we clear up the toys and books and sweep the floor, her with her brush and i with mine
6.30pm: Dada (XP) phones. She chats a bit but is not too excited to really, it's a hot day and she's still a bit shaky on concept of the phone. While i give him an update she gets into the baby shampoo and puts it on her dry hair...
6.45pm: I realise we need bread and milk and so i rinse her off in the shower and then we go off to the local shop (on our feet).
7.15pm: We're home, time for bed.
7.50pm: After stories and songs and snuggles i leave her to it and she is asleep in 2 minutes.

BoatBaby, I loved your writeup. Where do you find the energy to stay up so late though? I do get up a bit earlier, but I'm on my way to bed right now...it's 8:30. Wow, and it just NOW occurs to me that maybe once my toddler grows into a boy who sleeps through the night (allowing me to sleep through the night occasionally too) I might be slightly less tired in the evening. Maybe? Please?

My kid is still too little to want or to miss TV, but I'm really enjoying this thread!

Me three! Even my 2yo doesn't nap anymore !

Our day is a little different, because I've got 3 kiddoes and they're slightly older (6, 4, 2). Here's what today looked like:

6:00 ~ Mama gets up and actually gets chores done
7:00 ~ DD1 gets up and I read to her until...
7:30 ~ DS gets up and...
8:30 ~ DD2 wakes up
9:00 ~ As a special treat because DH is away for 3 weeks, we went to breakfast at the bagel store
10:00 ~ YMCA (Mama runs and swims laps while kids play in the children's center
11:30 ~ errands (bike shop, post office today)
12:30 ~ lunch
12:45 ~ doorbell rings, and 4 neighborhood kids come over to play
5:30 ~ I finally send all the neighborhood kids home (at one point there were 7 kids, plus my 3, having a blast here!)
5:45 ~ dinner
6:30 ~ ice cream shop run
7:00 ~ bath for all 3
8:00 ~ call Papa and tell him how much we miss him and can't wait for him to get home next Friday!
9:00 ~ after books on Mama's bed, all are asleep .

Now where the heck would I even fit TV into that day?????

~~Kristina~~ Mama to DS(10/30/01), DD1(VBAC 3/28/04) and DD2(HBAC 5/21/06)
