Okay, right after Christmas we all, (DH, me, DS and DD) came down with a stomach bug. Then right after that a cold, eye infection for DD and awful yeast infections in the diaper area for both DS and DD. Now, it is strep for all (except DH) with 2nd week of horrible diaper yeast stuff. DS and DD are on antibiotics for strep so when do I start probiotics and what kind do I get??? I am hoping that will help with the yeast which is getting better but not gone and I am sure the antibiotics aren't gonna help. They have roughly one week of antibiotics left (10 day regimen.) Thank you all for your help!!!

Hugs, mama! What a tough season for you guys!

There is a certain brand of probiotic that you can buy that you can give while on antibiotics--I'm sure someone else will know. If it were me, I would probably give doses of any probiotic 3 hours after each antibiotic treatment. I like Garden of Life's Primal Defense probiotics. They have a kid's formula, too.

What about food sources of good bacteria? Yogurt, kefir, kombucha tea, raw honey are all good for healing. Adding some bone broth to your diets might be a good idea, too.

Joyfully expecting #5 April 2014!

Florastor is a good one to take esp. w/ abx. Kirkman labs makes one with the same strain, s. boulardii.
