I am prepping DD for a colonoscopy and endoscopy on Tuesday (see allergy forum). She is on milk of magnesia and an oral solution of magnesium citrate. Today was pudding, milk, ice cream, and cream soup day. Her poop turned white as the day wore on. She has had white poop once before and it was not Hepatitis. The reason was never found out.

Is this normal while prepping for a colonoscopy? I know white poop is generally really bad.

As always THANK YOU!!!!!!

The only time we have ever seen white poop was after a severe, long term viral infection.

What a lousy diet they put her on. : Poor kid. Nothing but dairy!

I have had that during/toward the end of prep. Have you checked with the office? I have always been given a sheet filled with what to expect and white stool is one of the things listed.

We got white stool with barium. I'm not sure why you'd get white with the cleansing part...those two things are cleansing I believe and don't remember that when I did it. But I also wasn't taking those two cleansers. Nor was I eating ice cream and milk and etc. So...I'd call but suspect it is diet and/or the cleansers perhaps.

We put our daughter on porter's milk cure diet of raw goat milk for her arthritis and gastritis and she developed white poop for three months. We considered it normal. I know it is kind of weird because 100% breastfed babies don't have white poop, which I find kind of intriguing, I mean why if her poop was white for three months on raw milk are bf children's poop not white also? Anyway, we were not concerned at all about the white poop.

The OP thread title reminds me of a famous quote from my now ten year old "Is green poop normal?" It's more the WAY she said it that made it so quotable.

LOL!

Would it have turned white due to the Milk of Magnesia? Isn't it white?
