as anyone ever heard/done this? Put 1 drop of the juice of a red onion in your lo's ear? I guess it's supposed to help with ear infections. My mom and MIL told me to do it, but I wanted to find out if anyone has done that before.

I'm Aicha . In love with my DH, and my Adam (4/23/08) . boobie monster.

Not heard of the red onion juice but garlic oil is a pretty common ear infection treatment. Maybe post in Health & Healing?

i use garlic/mullien oil from the health food store, if you have one near you I would check there, they may even have something specific for kids but if not i would use the garlic oil (I love it! warm it up by floating the bottle in hot water)

A naturopath that used to care for my son before we moved swore by this treatment. He never mentioned that it had to be red onion, though. Just told me to grate an onion and squeeze the pulp through cheesecloth to collect the juice. DS has not had an ear infection though so I haven't tried it myself.

Yep. I hadn't heard of the onion either, but I've done garlic oil in the ear for my dd for all her ear infections, and last week for myself. It totally works wonders, so I wouldn't be surprised if the onion is good as well.

I have never heard of red onion. I have heard of using your childs urine in thier own ear. My mom used garlic gel. She would open one of the liquid gel vitamin caps and pour it into my ear. It worked every time, although i probably smelled less than savory for a few days.

we use onion juice exclusively. Way better IMO than garlic. IT doesnt' need to be red though.

A friend of mine just mentioned this last week (but not specifically a red onion). Our ped (we go to the same one) told her to do this and he is a classically trained homeopath. good luck and i hope your lo feels better soon!

Anyone know dosing info for this? I have some garlic oil and am not sure how to use it, my son has recurring ear infections.
