Yesterday my DD (11weeks) started having a watery eye and then it started getting a little goopy. When she woke and I just fed her it's still watery and still a goopy although not bad enough to make it stick together or anything but the whites of her eyes are still white...

Pink Eye? Any ideas?

Sounds like a blocked tear duct. Put some breast milk directly in her eye - it helps everything and hurts nothing.

You can also gently massage under her eye with your pinkie, but that can also cause some bruising to the delicate tissue.

The tear duct is what carries the eye's lubrication around the eye and causes any excess to come out at the inner corner. So if it's blocked, the lubrication and goop are just brimming up in her eye instead of coming out at the corner like normal.

The tear duct isn't responsible for producing tears, that's a common misconception. It basically just carries the moisture around. The eye has a tear "film" that produces the moisture, and if the duct is blocked, all that moisture just spills out over the rim.
