DD1 was put under anesthesia for a cystoscopy Monday. She has been sick off and on since the beginning of February. She's now running a temp of 103, and is very weak. They didn't find anything in the cystoscopy except a bit of a narrow urethra and they dilated that. I usually don't give anything for fevers until they are close to 104. I'm wondering if I should take her in to the ER or keep her home. I'm so done with all the doctors and my daughter is still getting sick. I don't think it helps. But, I don't want to risk it being something more. Any thoughts?

I would definitely take her in as she is considered post-op.

what works for us for fevers is to take two eggshells, rinse them and place them in the fresh juice of one lemon, allowing them to steep for an hour or two. then strain out the eggshells and drink the lemon juice. sometimes it takes a couple doses, so make more than one batch, and allow the other batches to steep for longer and give them every 15-30 minutes until the fever is gone. be sure to do this in a glass container, not plastic or metal.

sounds like you really need to do some serious immune support. i would consider getting a naturopath, if your budget can afford it.

I agree with this, although I understand your hesitation and I know what you mean about the doctors not helping. But if it's a post-op infection, you need to know, because it requires a different kind of treatment than a regular fever. Good luck with the whole process. Is there a specialist from the surgery team/dept you can call to consult before you bring her in?

MY 4 year old has an MRI every 3 months and is always put under with General Anaesthetic for it (it is an hour long test) and the next day he always runs a fever. We have been told it is from the anaesthetic. The highest he has ever gone though is 102.5 and it lasted only 24 hours. Your DD's is a little higher and lasting a lot longer. Given the type of procedure she had done I would be suspicious that they introduced an infection. I would take her in before it causes damage to the bladder wall giving her even more problems to deal with.

Her temp was 103.4 this morning. After talking with a nurse at the urologists office last night, they said just watch her and give her Motrin it's probably just a virus. I took her to our Family doc this morning. They ran a strep culture and it was neg.. DH just took them a urine sample and hopefully that will be negative too. If it is, I don't understand why she has been sick so dag gone much. Since February, she has probably been at the doctor's office more times than she had been in her whole life before that. I'm through, tired, and very sad.
