I have heard that apple cider vinegar is helpful - stings like h*ll, but supposedly takes away the pain. I have never had shingles so I don't know for sure, but might be worth a shot Also, if your LO isn't vaxed, you know they can get CP, right? (wish I was close by you to maybe get an exposure )

Ibuprofen and tylenol are both safe for breastfeeding mothers.

Thanks, ladies.

Apple cider vinegar, huh? Hmm... Will look into that.

Yeah, I know my kids (x 3) can catch CP but so far, nothing. I really thought they'd come down with it by now as it's been a good week...

I wouldn't take a NSAIDs with a virus.

Here are some alternatives related to varicella, which could help. http://www.mothering.com/discussions...26&postcount=4

Topically, I'd probably do Epsom salt baths, perhaps some baking soda soaks, maybe some lavender essential oil, possibly coconut oil topically, might try calendula topically for comfort. Homeopathic apis for itching. Oatmeal baths. Maybe homeopathic Hypericum for nerve pain.

I'd recommend seeing a classical homeopath.

Pat

I have a blog.

The only way your lo's can get cp from your shingles is if they actually touch the area your outbreak is at. Once one child did that and caught cp then the others would catch it from that child.

Just being around you wont do it not even eating and drinking after it has to be direct contact. FTR even with the cp vax they could still catch cp.
