While out swimming, I noticed my niece had very pruned-looking fingers and toes within just five minutes in the water. She has had this tendency since she was born...she came out with her fingers and toes looking like she had been soaking in the bath far too long. Does anyone know what this can be indicative of? She does have dairy and wheat intolerance.
Thank you!

Doesn't everybody prune up in water? Or is it just that she prunes really fast? I've never really noticed how long it takes.

The pruning effect is actually caused by the skin absorbing water. Just a guess, but maybe she' been a little dehydrated, or perhaps her skin is very "absorbent"? I've never heard of pruning being indicative of a medical problem.

It's just that she prunes up really fast, her mama has commented on it as well. I don't think it's dehydration because she usually has a sippy cup of water available. It may just be normal for her, but since there are so many knowledgeable folks on this forum, I thought someone might have a thought to share about this, hence the question. Thanks for your replies: kj and ledzepplon!
