My baby is 3 and a half months old. I am breastfeeding her. She has been very colicky ever since she was born. I have identified that she reacts to almost everything I normally eat (milk products (even goat), all animal proteins (including fish), many green veggies, tomatoes, beans, fruit, etc. If I eat these things, she spits up profusely and cries and cries...
For the past 3 weeks, I have been eating only rice, millet, buckwheat, quinoa and easily digestible veggies like squash, carrots, cooked salads and sweet potato. For protein I eat nuts, tofu (although this tends to give her gas) and eggs (which go down surprisingly well). The only fruit that she accepts is papaya. For breakfast I get to eat plain muesli with almond milk and toast with almond butter. No wheat bread though, it gives her gas. When I stick to this boring and tasteless diet, she is a fairly “normal” baby, spits up only a little, naps, and accepts to be seated or laid down. But as soon as I try to reintroduce something new, she reacts immediately.
People I’ve spoken to don’t believe me. My baby is gaining weight well, she is round and rosy. She drinks about every 3 hours (even at night).
Meanwhile, I am going out of my mind eating the way I am. I find myself salivating over Pizza Hut and McDonalds commercials! It’s getting really depressing. Has anyone ever heard of such a sensitive baby?
