My son has had something like 5 colds in a row since beginning preschool this fall and also had the flu at some point in there too. He developed a cough that lingered for weeks and is just now going away. He has a sore throat from post-nasal drip at night. I have noticed that his tonsils are swollen. I know it's not strep. He does not have a fever and feels pretty good overall.

Is this something that needs to be seen by a DR or are his tonsils just doing their job? My mother says- give him time to recover... the tonsils are doing what they are supposed to do. My husband and MIL would rush him to the Dr.

I am on the fence. Thoughts?
