We were going to borrow my SIL's nebulizer for a temporary treatment for DS. My MIL is freaking out, saying her elderly mother's respiration therapist said never to borrow "machines" because they spread germs. Well, everything I'm seeing on the Internet says it's fine to share nebulizers, given that the mask/tube are clean. What do you say, especially families that deal with asthma?

I used my Granny's nebulizer my whole childhood. Saved us from having to buy one.

We just used new of whatever you would normally use new (like if you were using your own machine) and reused whatever you would normally reuse.

So, I can't even remember if we used new tubing or just washed out the old or what. But it was never an issue.

I see no germ issue, especially if you get a package of new tubing and face mask. My son's been hospitalized many times for breathing issues and they always use a machine that's been used on 100s or 1000s of others. He gets a new pack of tubing/mask though. That should be pretty easy to get at a pharmacy I would think.
