For the past week I notice my left thumb will tremor after exertion. Like if I press my thumb down against the pad below my pinkie finger it quivers for a few seconds. It also gets stiff when I do that sort of like a charlie horse in my thumb. Any ladies experience this and what should I do? I'm getting worried it might be something serious.
My first thought is carpal tunnel maybe? Before my surgeries, I would lose the feeling in my fingers. You could try sleeping with a carpal tunnel brace at night, that might help. Maybe someone else has more experience with thumb specific issues.
I'm not sure if what you're experiencing is what I experienced but I'll share what happened to me.
I started twitching in my thumb twoish years ago. Sort of like an eye twitch but it never went away. I mean it would come and go but never completely left. Then it started in other places. I saw my doctor, they did an MRI and referred me to neurology. I was eventually diagnosed with benign fasciculations. However, it turned out that I had a coq10 deficiency from an underlying metabolic condition and nervous system damage from that.
Good signs from what you described:
The serious causes that I know of (brain wise) don't involve any pain.
Twitches at rest are a good sign (compared to those that happen or continue with the muscle is active). That said, my body did all kinds of weird stuff active or not at times so try not to freak out.
