My stomach has been hurting nearly every morning for years now. I mean, to the point where I'm almost doubled over from the pain.

It goes away within a couple of hours.

Any ideas? Suggestions? Reasons why this may be?

I'm usually tense in the morning because I despise mornings. I don't know why. I do know that it makes my stomach hurt. Or do I feel tense b/c my stomach always hurts?

Hmmm.... chicken or the egg?:LOL

This sounds like something a homeopath could treat you for. Homeopathy treats the whole person, emotionally and physically. And since it's been going on for so long, a constitutional remedy would be needed.

Do you have a poop in the morning? I've been having pain like that in the mornings lately, and generally poop within 15 minutes or so. I'm pregnant, so probably it's a rearranged intestines and great big baby issue. Still, if you have some kind of adhesion in your abdominal cavity, it could be making your colon a little stuck....???

If that's the case, abdominal massage might help, as well as the ND or homeopath idea.

Do you drink orange juice or eat something in the morning that's hard on an empty stomach?

Being right is not always fair, but being fair is always right

Yes, I poop in the morning. And no, I don't have anything particularly "hard" in the morning.... I don't drink/eat the same things every day, and it occurs pretty much regardless of what I do - or don't - eat and drink.

I'm wondering if my intestinal flora is really screwed up. I was a formula-fed kid and grew up on white breads and refined sugar.:

Would that have anything to do with those symptoms? Ya know what it feels like? Really severe gas pains, but they come and go, like contractions

You could try upping your magnesium intake(calms the muscles in the stomach and everywhere),increasing fiber and taking an intestinal flora supplement. As far as homeopathy i would recommend arsenicum or chamomila.Even drinking chamomile or peppermint tea upon waking.Chamomile will soothe your belly and release gas.Sounds like long term stress and manifestation.Try these things and if they don't work see someone.Preferably a nutritionist or naturopath.

I've got a couple of thoughts. Mornings are different for a bunch of reasons:
You've been sleeping
You've been laying down
You haven't been eating
You haven't been drinking
You haven't been eliminating wastes
You are starting a new day
Does the stomach issue happen at other times when one of the above applies: say, when you forget to eat, or when you nap, or when you lie down for a while? You might be able to figure out the cause and be one step closer to a solution.
I used to get heartburn in the morning. But that started up about 10 minutes after I got up, not as I awoke. But you'd know heartburn, as that's a distinctive sensation.

Sorry your tummy hurts.

Do you drink coffee?

I only have one cup a day (first thing in the morning), but my stomach hurts like clockwork at 9:30 am--I am pretty sure that's what does it to me. :Puke

and yet still, she can't give up that one cup a day . . .

Do you take the pill?

When I was on it (for all of three months) this happened to me in the morning. Something to do with hormonal levels or something. It sucked anyway!

Hope you get to the bottom of it!!
