I am on the 16th day of my period. Yes, I believe I am perimenopausal, but this is the first time I have gone this long. So far it has been a light period. I called my practioner on day 13 and she said to give it another week then come in if it is still going as long as it remains light. Well tonight I am soooo heavy that I am not even going 10 minutes between changes- both a super tampon and a maxi-pad. How long should I give it before deciding that I am bleeding too heavily and need help?

Yes, I think you should go to the ER. The normal advice is that if you're soaking through more than one thick pad in an hour, you're bleeding too much.

Yeah, go to ER if this lasts more than another half an hour.  If you feel dizzy at all get someone to drive you.

Sorry my computer died and I couldn't update. I waited another hour and it finally slowed down. I am on day 18 still, but back to being light. Thank you for the responses.
