Hi all,
I know you all can't tell me what is best to do, but maybe if anyone has been here before and has some words of advice, that would be great.
I have had high-risk HPV and cervical changes for a year now. Two years ago, my pap was fine, and then last July, I had an abnormal one, and was given a colposcopy/biopsy and told I had LGSIL- CIN I cervical changes, and the bad, cancer causing kind of HPV. My doctor wanted me to do a LEEP immediately, but I sought a second opinion. The gynocologist I am now with took over my case, and did a follow up pap at 6 months, which showed no changes- still at CIN I. I was newly pregnant at this time, back in early February. I ended up having a blighted ovum, and losing the pregnancy in March, at which time he wanted to do a colposcopy and biopsy. The last time I had it done (a year ago) it was excruciating and ended up triggering interstitial cystitis in me. (A bladder disease). I expressed fear about doing it again, and he said he would do a pap smear in 4 months time, and at that time he would probably need to do the colposcopy. I agreed.
Well, that follow up pap was 2 weeks ago, and the results came back yesterday. My LGSIL has now progressed to HGSIL, moderate to severe cervical changes- in 5 months time! The doctor's office called offering to do a colposcopy/biopsy and most likely a LEEP under anesthesia, so I would not have to be awake for the procedure, to alleviate my anxiety surrounding the procedure. I would be full speed ahead for that... except I found out I am pregnant again two days ago. I went in for HCG/progesterone testing yesterday, and will speak with my doctor in a week. I assume at this time he will want to schedule a colposcopy, which I am fine with. Obviously the LEEP cannot be done, and I am not sure how comfortable I am with the biopsy in pregnancy.
Should I be freaking out? Well, I obviously AM freaking out... 5 months time seems like a VERY fast progression from CIN-I to CIN-III. Will I have full-blown cervical cancer by the time I give birth? Any thoughts/experiences you could share would be great. I am really, really scared.
