My daughter was diagnosed with grade 2 VUR about a year ago. She is now 3 years old. She's been on a daily antibiotic for almost a year now and she is due for a retest in about a month to see if the VUR has healed. Her first cystogram was pretty traumatic for her and for me. I am dreading having to put her through that again. Any advice on how to prepare her? If you have any stories of your own to share...I would greatly appreciate it.
Our peds rule is if under 8, sedate. Was she sedated? When our dd went for hers, she was sedated....we told her that she would take a special nap, the doctor would take some pictures of her tummy ....but of couse they had to wake her up half way thru it bc she wasn't peeing----but even then, it worked out.............going to a Childrens Hospital may make all the difference...and working with a Child Life Specialist too.............PM IF YOU WANT TO CHATT...just had a DMSA scan done....will be redoing teh cysto in about 8 months....
