Im going to try to be brief. My 8 yo dd has had this issue for over a year. Poor soul. She has

No constipation issues

healthy diet ( wholefood/vegetairan limited sugar/ very limited processed foods)

We have tested for pinworms, strep, and have gone thru 2 cycles of yeast meds with no luck. Her ped. was sure it was yeast but cutting way back on sugar (honey) and 3 weeks of meds have shown no change so I am doubting its yeast. had I seen even a slight change I would assume yeast and really eliminate all sugar etc for 2 months....We've also tried tea tree oil, aloe vera, sitz baths, zinc creams....you name it....

Im getting crazy advice. hate to alter her diet too much when Im unsure if its a food issue and she already has a very healthy diet.. No food allergies in our family except me- dairy- which she does very little off ( I also breastfeed for 3 years)

Any ideas? We are back to the Dr next week who has suggest going to a specialist....

Hi there,

I don't have much to offer except that you sound like you are doing all the right things and that you lead a very healthy lifestyle.  I'll let this brew in my mind for a while and see if I come up with anything.

I personally have Celiac on the brain because my two children are about to have their final diagnosis next week, but it seems like Celiac would be a reach.  One of my two girls has mentioned, "My bottom is itchy" on occassion, but it would be hard to know if gluten was the culprit.  Celiac has over 300 symptoms--and is super specific to each individual.  Also, Celiac can be "silent" as in "shows no outward symptoms."  If you're interested in thinking through whether or not gluten plays a role for your daughter, perhaps the best site to start with is www.celiac.org and http://www.celiac.org/images/stories/PDF/is-your-child-the-one.pdf handout is probably the most succinct.

As I said, I'm biased at the moment, so take my input with a grain of salt!  And, I'm so impressed with all you've done and how healthy you all live.  Whatever this turns out to be, you're the kind of mom that will handle it so well!
