What supplements etc. would you recommend that I give my child and myself, since we were with a family all day today with a baby who just (since seeing them) tested positive for strep? My son just got off antibiotics for a dental infection, so I already feel like his immune system isn't 100%. I have him on probiotics and I currently take no supplements. Thanks so much.

Also, does anyone know how contagious strep is? I had strep throat years ago and don't remember. Thanks again.

Strep can be very contagious but it really depends on how strong the immune systems of the people exposed are. I have been seriously ill with strep enough times (to the point of being hospitalized) that I recognize the warning signs and know I have to stop everything and get some sleep and take as much vitamin C as I can. The combination of rest and lots of vitamin C (from food and high doses of supplements) seems to do the trick for me.

This has been my experience as well - my husband and I both had strep last summer (at the same time) and the kids never got sick.  I did dose them up with vitamins C and D.
