Hi, my almost 5 year old has pinkeye. It's not a serious case although I suppose it could get worse, but right now it seems pretty mild. Since most pinkeye are viral and not bacterial, I've decided not to take him to the Dr. immediately and just treat at home with breastmilk. My question is, how long is pinkeye contagious? Once the symptoms are gone, does that mean it's not contagious anymore?

Thanks,
Christine

I have had great success in getting rid of pinkeye with colloidal silver spray. (BM is good too, but I found the CS to get rid of it quicker) As for contagiousness. If the pinkeye is caused by a virus, the person can usually return to day care, school, or work when symptoms begin to improve, typically in 3 to 5 days.

There is a nice homeopathic product- drops- Similasan Pink Eye Relief- that I used before I learned enough to figure out individual remedies. Available at most natural food stores that carry remedies and at some conventional Rite-Aids, etc...

I am a homeopath, offering acute and constitutional consultations for children, babies, and parents. Long-distance treatment is easy, either phone or skype! I also am certified to offer Homeoprophylaxis, a vaccine-alternative program. Message me for more details. www.concentrichealing.com
