My boyfriend's 7yr old son's nose starts bleeding when he gets running hard or playing hard.  He does not have allergies and it's beautiful outside.  Is he lacking a vitamin?  I am concerned.  Any advise is greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Is this the only time it happens? Is this the first time in his life it has been consistent? My son was a nosebleeder most of his toddler years, and it seemed to be related to very dry weather and growth spurts. His major growth spurts seemed to slow a bit once he hit 4, but I wouldn't be surprised if it started again as he's approaching 5. Our pedi mentioned that there are so many reasons, and it's rarely cause for concern. Just pay close attention to everything- weather, growth spurts, nose picking, etc to see of there might be any common reasons aside from just running. The capillaries in the sinuses are so sensitive, that it is easy to burst them. I wouldn't worry, but it is good to be aware of these things. Cheers!
