My problem is that although I am doing all I can - adding stool softener, drinking tons of water - I am really struggling to have bm. I have pressure but I can't go without straining
. Which of course makes the hemmorhoids worse .
What can I do? I have a trip in 2 weeks and I can't be in this much pain.
I am currently using proctofoam to treat pain - taking colace - drinkin lots of water - doing sitz baths - taking a probiotic and vitamin b6 .
Anything else I could try?
I have hemorrhoids as well so I can relate. Constipation is an issue for me as well. what really helps for me is a balanced diet with lots of fiber and fluids. When all else fails I use a mild stool softener but it usually just gives me diarrhea and not the desired long-term results.
Prune juice works wonders and lots of walking, moving around.
I saw a TV show that talked about a certain exercise that`s supposed to relieve constipation but I have not been able to find that info any more.
I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks so much ladies - it is so miserable. It is hard to balance then need to go with the need to not strain. I know that colace takes a bit to fully kick in so hopefully today is not as hard of a struggle. I hate these things!
Hemorrhoids are like a hangover, unfortunately. Only time makes it better. At this point, you need symptom relief and to have a BM without straining, which like you said, makes it worse.
You are doing all the right things. I get them too, and had them terribly when pregnant. When I need it, I make a pot of chili with black, pinto and kidney beans... 2 cans of black beans and 1 for the rest. That gets me going. Also, Kashi cereal... Cinnamon Harvest cereal. Something about that cereal seems to work. It's organic and non-GMO. Also, lentil soup. I have a recipe I use that I make in the slow cooker. That works too. Those are my top three choices that work for me. Witch Hazel for sure, like others mentioned. For me, pregnant or not, it takes at least 2 weeks for the damn things to resolve. I had one episode once that almost lasted 3 weeks. Sucks. I feel your pain, literally.
Literally considering an enema out of sheer desperation. I chugged metamucil -more colace - some vein leg vitamins that I read somewhere helped someone with hemorrhoids -vitamin b6 - probiotics - green juice - prunes. I had a strong craving for thai soup so I had that too. Anyway I am stressing about my BM so bad that I think I am going to make it worse! UGH. Anyway - if I can't go tomorrow I guess enema will be. It is awfulness to poop and have the feeling of razorblades are cutting you inside out :(
I will def. get the kashi cereal. LIKE ASAP.
Yeah, try that cereal. It's like eating cinnamon flavored tree branches, but it does the job. I hope it works for you!
I've never tried this, but in desperate situations... maybe grab some water-based ointment or something like that and blot/wipe it on "the area" outside and a little inside as much as you can stand it. It may help things slip out once you get to that point. I read about this technique somewhere on the internet and that it helps... move things along faster and without too much discomfort??? Ugh, hemorrhoids. They are just so awful.
I just finished the cereal with a little bit of raw milk. I am thinking part of what got me here is not eating enough due to a lot of stress that has been going on. So I am going to try and increase volume of what I eat and eat very clean as well. I gave myself an enema - and that was all sorts of fun. It still hurt but I did get some stuff out so that was good but I feel like the internal hemmorrhoids are so inflamed that it still feels like I have to go. It is even painful to pass gas.
Anyway - I put on a call to my OBGYN and the Colo rectal doctor he referred me to and I am going for accupuncture tomorrow. I will try anything.
Went to a color rectal especialist today and after the most horrible exam that was worse than natural labor I was told I was impacted and had a tear :( I was given a cortisoid/numbing medecine and also Magnesium Citrate and thankfully I am starting to have BMs. They are uncomfortable but not as bad as I expected. I am glad I went although the exam about did me in - I cried all the way home and cried on the table :(
Open up a clove of garlic, poke holes in it and put it up there like a suppository. Yes.
Helped me anyway when I had killer hemorrhoids a while back.

I am doing a lot better - still not healed but I was able to sleep and I am not in constant pain. Now just eating super healthy and trying to keep things running smoothly so things heal up. I will try the garlic although its scares me a bit! Ha! Does it come out? The last thing I need is a chunk of garlic stuck in there that I have to push out. Maybe a chucnk instead of a full clove?
