I'm curious about this also. I've heard of garlic and yogurt, but not about application methods. My doctor also told me about a vaginal pill that is basically citric acid, and the change in ph makes the vagina inhospitable to the bacteria.

BV is awful, and I pretty much always have it. I'd like to hear ideas for chronic BV too.

Probiotics are something I would look into if I were you, especially the strains L rhamnosus and L fermentum. Thing is, they have been looked at more for prophylaxis from future cases after treatment than for treatment itself, but other than cost (and they're not cheap) there are no known negative effects. It wouldn't be an overnight symptom fix either, since your vaginal flora is colonized from them over a period of several days (weeks?) as the "good" bacteria migrate over from your GI tract.
