i was diagnosed with bacterial vaginitis this week . i did mention to the PA that i was breastfeeding and she saw the baby. however, when i picked up my prescription, i read the insert and it said 'do not take when breastfeeding' : .
so now what? i'd rather take a different path on this, anyway. i checked kellymom to see what else i could take, but vaginitis didn't come up under the search.
Flagyl (metronidazole) is commonly prescribed for lactating women. If you have concern about taking it orally while breastfeeding you might ask for the vaginal Metrogel that has less systemic absorption. Another thought, if you'd like to skip antibiotics altogether is to try boric acid suppositories or check out this link at Susun Weed's forum: http://www.herbshealing.com/weedforu...?TOPIC_ID=1182
