I just got back from taking DD to the pediatrician. She got a culture for pertussis, but we won't have the results for a while. In the meantime, the ped said she thinks it's a sinus infection, not pertussis.

She wrote a prescription for antibiotics, and I'm wondering if I have any alternatives. I know that raw garlic would help clear an infection, but I don't know how I could possibly get my 2.5 yr old to swallow raw garlic.

She's on a multivitamin and another vitamin with some acidophilus & bifidus & more vitamin C.

I don't know what else I can do. I wish I could afford to see a naturopath, but I really can't. Please help!

I've put raw garlic in the blender with tomato juice or V-9 (oops, meant V-8, but I guess I turned it into V-9,lol) But I don't know if a child would be willing to drink that, it IS quite spicy!! I've always just taken the garlic myself and nursed like crazy. Maybe if you blended it with stevia or honey and gave it as a "medicine syrup" kind of thing?

I've found that ginger tea is very helpful with my congestion/nausea/ general icky feeling. I'm not sure if it has simlar anti-germ properties as garlic has, but it certainly tastes a lot better!!!! I put raw ginger and water into a tea pot, boil for a few minutes then simmer until I feel like drinking it, then I sweeten it with stevia after I put it into my cup.

Good luck and I hope she feels better soon.
