11 mo old dd has white patches on the inside of her lips, and not that she'll let me check, but I have glimpsed lesions on her palate. Her voice has been raspy for about a week but she shows no signs of illness otherwise. she's having no problems nursing or eating, except for lemons. for the moment i'm trying gentian violet, echinacea/lemon balm tincture and yogurt along with cutting out sugar. is this thrush do you think? i don't really want to take her to a doc unless i really have to cuz it would be the emergency room and i don't want to expose her to people who are really sick unnecessarily.

White patches inside the mouth certainly sounds like thrush. If you use some gauze and wipe the patch you can tell for sure....thrush stays put, milk wipes away.

Any reason why you cant take her in to see a doc at a regular office first thing monday morning? Thrush usually isnt considered emergent anyways.

Hope all turns out well

Sounds like thrush. The best thing I have ever used for thrush is a Bay Leaf Mouthwash.

take 5 whole bayleaves boil for 20 minutes in two (2) cups of water. discard leaves. will be greenish in color with essential oils floating around the top. Cool to room temp and mix the oils and water. Give baby 10 drops.

They don't usually like it very much, but don't fuss.

Give 2 to 3 times per day. Refrigerate unused. discard after two days.
